Coming off their Drama Desk nominated show Le Jazz Hot, virtuoso saxophonists and clarinetists Peter and Will Anderson return to Bay Chamber to explore the musical context and hits of big band legend Duke Ellington. Prepare to dive into the sultry sounds of Kansas City, New Orleans, and Harlem that shaped the sound of American Music for generations to come. Calling all auto enthusiasts of all ages! Dust off that classic, antique or special interest car and start the season with an epic excursion through Midcoast Maine. This inaugural spring event invites classic car owners to dust off their vehicles and hit the road! Local groups are joining together to throw a festival of independence party with music, parades, fireworks, and breathtaking natural beauty. Make a long weekend of it and celebrate in style. Watch a spectacular community-financed fireworks display over Camden Harbor on the evening of July 4th to honor our heritage and our history.
Over 100 artists and craftspeople display and sell their work in scenic Camden Amphitheater, Harbor Park, and along Atlantic Avenue. Stroll around the different vendor tents and shop for unique art and crafts while enjoying the view. The North Atlantic Blues Festival, one of the more prestigious festivals on the East Coast will run for two days, July 14 and 15, 2018. The event will be held at the popular festival site, Harbor Park in Rockland, Maine, overlooking picturesque Rockland Harbor. Some of the top names in blues music will be featured on the Main Stage. Spend an idyllic summer evening of dining and dancing to live music as the sun sets over the vineyard at Cellardoor Winery in Lincolnville. Every Labor Day weekend, Camden hosts a windjammer celebration of maritime heritage. Throughout the day on Friday, Schooners from around Maine sail in and dock in our harbor—whether you’re a boat lover or not, it’s a spectacular site. The Camden International Film Festival returns to the midcoast for its 15th season. The festival will once again shine the spotlight on works that show dedication to craft and a unique and artistic approach to telling a darn good story. All films are selected because of their ability to arouse discussion on documentary film as an art form, a catalyst for change and as an outlet for the independent voice. The Common Ground Country Fair attracts about 60,000 people each year for three days and since 1998 has been held on more than 250 acres of farmland and forest owned by the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association. With no amusement park rides and a menu from vendors made up primarily of locally-sourced and organic ingredients, its main draw is events focused on sustainability and rural living. In December, Camden is transformed into a festive and intimate fairytale town, complete with an enchanting star on top of the mountain overlooking the town. Christmas by the Sea, featuring a full weekend of activities, kicks off the season with a holiday parade, Santa’s arrival (by boat!) to the Midcoast, store-wide sales, free photos with Santa, open houses and craft fairs. A week-long celebration of winter beginning with ice carving and snow sculpting and culminating with the US National Toboggan Championships, fireworks, a snow plow parade, concert and dance, all with a festive Maine Mardi Gras theme. This amateur event started in the 1990s and has swelled into a serious affair, with people coming from all over the U.S and overseas, often with their wooden toboggans roped to the roof of their family SUVs. As always, this year's Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour features a collection of the most inspiring and thought-provoking action, environmental, and adventure mountain films. Traveling from remote landscapes and cultures to adrenaline packed action sports, the 2019 World Tour is an exhilarating and provocative exploration of the mountain world.
