16 Bay View presents Cool Jazz on a Hot Summer Night, featuring renowned saxaphonist, Greg Abate. Greg's jazz trio consists of Paul Del Nero on bass, Jon Wheatley on guitar, and Greg on sax and flute.
Greg is an Internationally Recognized jazz musician, with a wealth of experience playing around the world with his own groups as well as PhilWoods, Ray Charles Orchestra and the Artie Shaw Orchestra. He has recorded numerous albums under his own name and as a sideman. In the words of onecritic, "Greg is one of the most exciting players around today. Greg'scommitment to music is total". ( W. Bassist Paul Del Nero has been teaching at the Berkeley School of Music for 23 years and frequently performs and tours with Jazz greats and his own groups. Paul played bass with Mose Allison for many years. Jon Wheatley, on guitar, is also on the staff at Berkeley and has played with Ruby Brad, Dick Johnson, and Herb Pomeroy to name just a few.
This will be a wonderful night of fine acoustic jazz, Be-Bop and Swing so bring your dancing shoes. Tickets are only $20 purchased in advance or $25 at the door, and includes light hors d'oeuvres and a premium cash bar. Limited seating is available. Brown Rice Family is today’s freshest world roots band jamming towards global solidarity and organic happiness. Guided by a strong belief in the natural flow of things, BRF provides the masses with a distinctively organic World Roots Music, which encompasses reggae, hip-hop, dancehall, afro beat, jazz stylings, rock, Brazilian, Latin, and funk.
The band was formed while its members were attending the City College of New York. The band began to grow and is presently comprised of eight members hailing from all over the world—Japan, Jamaica, Haiti, Nigeria, South Africa and USA. The members’ diverse national backgrounds set the stage for their unique coexistence, their musical creativity and dance. The BRF sound is in the truest sense of the words, World Roots Music. BRF firmly believes in self-improvement and environmental improvement, and so the collective is perpetually seeking out healthier ways of living, grooving, and eating.

Every Labor Day weekend, Camden hosts a windjammer celebration of maritime heritage. Throughout the day on Friday, Schooners from around Maine sail in and dock in our harbor—whether you’re a boat lover or not, it’s a spectacular site. The Camden International Film Festival returns to the midcoast for its tenth season. The festival will once again shine the spotlight on works that show dedication to craft and a unique and artistic approach to telling a darn good story. All films are selected because of their ability to arouse discussion on documentary film as an art form, a catalyst for change and as an outlet for the independent voice.
The Common Ground Country Fair attracts about 60,000 people each year for three days and since 1998 has been held on more than 250 acres of farmland and forest owned by the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association. With no amusement park rides and a menu from vendors made up primarily of locally-sourced and organic ingredients, its main draw is events focused on sustainability and rural living. In December, Camden is transformed into a festive and intimate fairytale town, complete with an enchanting star on top of the mountain overlooking the town. This amateur event started in the 1990s and has swelled into a serious affair, with people coming from all over the U.S and overseas, often with their wooden toboggans roped to the roof of their family SUVs. As always, this year's Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour features a collection of the most inspiring and thought-provoking action, environmental, and adventure mountain films. Traveling from remote landscapes and cultures to adrenaline packed action sports, the 2017 World Tour is an exhilarating and provocative exploration of the mountain world. The 2018 Camden Conference will explore shifts in global power and the ramifications for major players, particularly China, the US and the nations of Europe, in pursuing their national interests. The North Atlantic Blues Festival, one of the more prestigious festivals on the East Coast will run for two days, July 16 and 17, 2016. The event will be held at the popular festival site, Harbor Park in Rockland, Maine, overlooking picturesque Rockland Harbor. Some of the top names in blues music will be featured on the Main Stage.
