The Camden Winterfest returns to the Historic Bok Amphitheater for the 7th annual community celebration of winter on January 31st and February 1st 2009. This popular event is presented by The Camden Public Library and its Committee for Harbor Parks and Amphitheatre along with local sponsors. The National Toboggan Championships returns to Camden February 6-8, 2009. Featured on ESPN, competitors from across the country team up for 8 seconds of chaos roaring down an ice-covered chute at the nearby Camden Snow Bowl. The Owls Head Transportation Museum will hold its third annual “WinterFest” – Winter Transportation Festival – on February 14-15. This year’s WinterFest is being expanded to a 2-day event and will include a Valentine’s Dance on Saturday night, as well as many fun, family-oriented activities throughout the weekend. The 22nd Annual Camden Conference, entitled Global Leadership and the U.S. Role in World Affairs, will take place Feb. 20-22, 2009 at the Camden Opera House and streamed live to satellite venues at the Hutchinson Center in Belfast, the Strand Theatre in Rockland, and, in cooperation with the World Affairs Council of Maine, at the Hannaford Auditorium in Portland.
